Who We Are
We are a grassroots organization of sexual assault victims, survivors and allies dedicated to helping those in our committees who have also been affected by sexual violence by offering unique opportunities for empowerment, and involving the entire community in the effort to end sexual violence.
Our mission is to support, empower and advocate for sexual assault victims and survivors through the creation of safe spaces for survivors to share their story in creative ways, to provide survivors, allies and advocates the skills required to organize and advocate for themselves and others, and to dismantle stereotypes and erode the systemic causes of sexual violence.
What We Do
Founded in 2018, a year after our founder was raped. We offer creative expression programs, advocacy and referral services for victims and survivors or sexual violence, community outreach and awareness events and training workshop.
Creative expression programs: Jewelry Making, Poetry, Mixed Media, Painting, Creative Writing, Dance, Pottery
We believe in the power of storytelling, whether it's through words, visual art, music or dance. Storytelling allows victims and survivors to continue their healing process, and is a powerful tool for promoting awareness and understanding. In February 2022 we held Shadows Ignited. Using the skills our have clients learned, they wrote poems, monologues and short plays which were performed by professional actors. It gave our clients an opportunity to share their stories in ways that were more comfortable for them, and the power of the stories led to 3 performers disclosing their sexual assaults for the first time.
Referral services: therapists/counselors, addiction services, legal assistance, food, rental and utility assistance.
Training programs: peer support group facilitator training, community organizing, prevention education bootcamp, sexual assault counselor certification training, Bystander Intervention, What Is Consent, Sexual Violence 101 and Sexual Harassment.
