UrbanPromise Honduras

Our Mission is to inspire the children and youth of Honduras to reach their potential by equipping them with the skills necessary for life management, academic achievement, spiritual growth, and leadership rooted in the Christian faith. It all started with a desire to see a vibrant community where young people thrive...in a holistic way—meaning emotionally, physically, spiritually (although the spiritual really encompasses all), and academically… We started as a team of three foreigners, focusing on the children and youth of Copán Ruinas, and we formed a comprehensive support network for them through AfterSchool programs, Summer Camps, and Youth Leadership. The work grew in quantity and quality while also growing in our goal of equipping and raising local leadership. The vision has been alive for almost 14 years, and we have taken big steps, from an annual reach of just 30 children to now impacting over 650 children and youth annually in Copán Ruinas alone. Our small team of 3 foreign staff has evolved into a courageous, innovative, and humble team of 32 local Latin American staff. We invite interns and volunteers to join us for a summer in our Bilingual camps, or year-round in our AfterSchool Programs to invest your gifts through service and grow through leadership development and community building.

UrbanPromise Honduras (UPH) is a children and youth ministry in Copán Ruinas, Honduras. At UPH, we focus on not only serving, but empowering the people we serve at every level. Children in our after-school and vacation camps are provided with homework help, healthy snacks, dynamic classes, and lots of fun. After sixth grade, they are not left aside, but have the opportunity to volunteer in camps as a Leader-in-Training for one year before applying for part-time employment in camps through our Youth Program. These youth leaders have access to mentoring, tutoring, and weekly youth nights where they share a meal, play, and learn more about God’s word. Our youth leaders learn how to set goals and work toward them, be responsible, and love and serve their neighbor with God’s love—all while receiving the support and encouragement they need to grow.
