Who We Are
A refugee has fled persecution. They have survived wars, trauma, and deprivation, and lived in the uncertainty of refugee camps. Resettled by the US government, they have been given a chance for a better life.
But obstacles remain.
Nations Ministry Center is committed to helping refugees rebuild their lives. Having provided nearly two decades of support to families in Nashville, Nations Ministry Center has established a long-standing partnership with families in the community. We provide educational support and immigration assistance so that refugee families can be generationally successful. We believe in meeting the needs of the whole person.
What We Do
Nations Ministry Center provides literacy and life skills programming for refugee and immigrant youth in Southeast Nashville. Youth receive after-school homework help, targeted literacy instruction, life skills, and a sense of belonging.
Volunteers are invited to join our after-school literacy program to help refugee and immigrant children become grade level readers and adjust to their new lives in Nashville.
Visit our website to learn more and submit a volunteer application.
Due to the complex trauma of the refugee journey and the interrupted formal education refugee youth have undergone, youth are grade levels behind in their reading ability.
Together we can close the literacy gap and provide the support youth need to succeed academically, emotionally, and socially.
