Who We Are

Girl Scout Mission - Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee is the premier leadership organization for all girls to have the opportunity to pursue greatness, create sustainable change in their communities, and actively transform the world around them now and for future generations. Locally, the first troops were started in 1917, with the Nashville Girl Scout Council receiving its charter in 1926. Today, Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee serves 39 counties that include more than 12,500 Girl Scouts and 4,500 volunteers.

What We Do

We prepare girls for their future by educating them in the areas of STEM, Outdoor Adventures, Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship. Together we are empowering girls and changing the world.

Our Core Values

Girl Scouts are leaders. We provide all girls with unique opportunities to lead. We understand true leadership is taught, learned, and reinforced in a variety of settings. Therefore, it is our job to consistently and proactively remind all girls they are leaders and provide them with a multitude of opportunities to lead.

Girl Scouts are bold. We build a foundation for girls to empower themselves, take risks, and stand up for their beliefs. Our events and programs encourage girls to boldly pursue their unique interests and ideas.

Girl Scouts are committed. We teach girls the value of working hard. Girl Scouts seek challenges, work as a team, and build resilience to overcome obstacles.

Girl Scouts are dedicated to their community. We are committed to helping girls leverage their own unique gifts and talents to make a difference in their communities. By our own example, we inspire girls to put service above self.

Girl Scouts are versatile. We provide girls with dynamic experiences that allow them to grow as individuals and contributing members of society. They develop lasting relationships, learn to embrace both success and failure, and are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Where else can you learn new dance moves, go camping, take care of the planet, develop your leadership skills, contribute to your community, learn business skills, experience art, stay healthy and active, become independent, and work together as a team all in one place?
