Freedom Reigns Ranch

"Igniting hope with the help of a horse" by providing mentor sessions to children and young adults who have been through trauma and other challenges. All services are provided completely free-of-charge.

The first Session Program emerged from humble beginnings where Founder, Carissa Ramsdell, simply taught children to ride using her personal horse, Boston. Ramsdell herself had experienced God's healing from past trauma through the relationship she built with Boston and caring leaders. Just as she was saved by God through her horse, she felt called to help others in the same way. As lives began to change through a Godly mentor relationship combined with teaching horsemanship skills, more requests for the service were presented by those who had experienced their own trauma. Freedom Reigns Ranch was born from that need.

Freedom Reigns Ranch provides mentorship to children and young adults who have been through trauma and other challenges. Through learning horsemanship and basic riding skills, participants learn how to build trust with their mentor and the horses, grow in patience, confidence, and resilience, and gain a healthy self-image. These positive life skills translate to everyday life. Freedom Reigns Ranch utilizes rescued horses in our Program as well as fostering and rehabilitating horses who have been through abuse and neglect. Participants are able to hear their stories of redemption and overcoming hardship which produces a strong feeling of hope that they, too, can recover.
