United Nations Association at Belmont has begun to blossom in the last two semesters. At the end of last semester our president Morgan Horn planned a beautiful gallery event entitled "A Nice Night of Art and Jazz." We sold student donated art in the form of a silent auction and the proceeds went to water crisis relief efforts in Flint, MI, as well as the Nashville International Center for Empowerment.

Over the current semester Camilla Hester has taken over as President of the Belmont chapter, appointing Aly Fiegle as secretary and Drew D'oliveira as treasurer. We have volunteered in a local garden biweekly for the entire fall semester. This garden is located at Carter Lawrence Elementary School on 12th avenue.

Additionally, we have put on 2 convocations with the UNICEF community engagement fellow Phoebe Castelblanco: one about childhood nutrition and one about human trafficking. Our next convocation with Phoebe will be about clean water and UNICEF's work in that area. The convocation will take place at 10:00 am on November 6th in the Vince Gill room. All of these convocations align with the UN's sustainable development goals.  We have had amazing attendance at these so far and are looking forward to another great conversation on November 6th.

Our last event during the fall semester will be a Night of Art and Jazz partnered with Poverty and the Arts, an organization that showcases and supports homeless and lower income artists. The event will take place at Atmology on November 12th from 5:30-7:00 pm and is free, however UNA and Poverty and the Arts ask that you be prepared to donate or buy art directly from the artists. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.
