When a family at Safe Haven moves into housing, each child (ages 0-18) is given a basket of books to begin their personal home library. We provide around 160 book baskets annually to newly housed children.
You can help during the MLK Black Book Drive by donating books for children ages 0 to 18 to Safe Haven written by Black authors or that center Black and Brown characters.
Drop off books at Safe Haven Family Shelter between January 16 and February 16 (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or purchase books online to be delivered to Safe Haven.
