Volunteer: Prayer Partner for adult learners

Are you a Christian who has a desire to be a prayer partner to bring hope to a person struggling to overcome obstacles caused by poverty? This is the opportunity for you!

Begin Anew is a faith-based education organization working to empower individuals to overcome obstacles caused by poverty by providing education, mentoring, and resources.

Begin Anew operates programs at four locations throughout Middle Tennessee (Woodbine, Downtown Nashville, Madison, and Franklin). Along with weekly Bible study and no-cost programming and care for our students’ children, we offer three education tracks in separate programs to men and to women:

HSE (High School Equivalency) ELL (English Language Learners) accommodating three levels of instruction Computer and Job Skills Training

Though education is the focus of our program, we feel that relationships and encouragement offer the key to the success. We seek Christian volunteers to walk alongside our students as they work to achieve their goals.

A prayer partner will:

Receive training and instruction on how to communicate and care for the student(s) Be paired with one or two adult students at a specific site and commit to praying for the student(s) daily for a six-month period Have one face-to-face meeting with the student(s), then communicate once a week to share scripture and encouragement (This can be done via text, voicemail/phone call, email or mailed card) for a six-month period Model successful behavior for a student by showing reliability, accountability, promptness, and dependability Share monthly updates about the student(s) journey with the Program Manager Uphold the mission, vision, and statement of faith of Begin Anew

 
This position requires volunteers to complete an application and pass a background check.  Training and resources will be provided to you by the Program Manager, as needed.
