Volunteer: Youth Art Club Volunteer

Daybreak Arts is seeking enthusiastic and creative volunteers to support our brand new youth art program, Gigi's Creative Corner. Volunteers will assist Daybreak Artists teaching youth during workshops and helping lead creative activities. This is a weekly, hands-on, and ongoing volunteer opportunity to inspire young artists. Opportunities will start as soon as March 2026.

Through partnerships with schools and community organizations, Gigi’s Creative Corner provides hands-on art workshops, sustained creative opportunities, and welcoming environments where youth can explore their artistic voice, build relationships, and develop a sense of belonging. Gigi’s Creative Corner meets young people where they already are—integrating art into afterschool programs, school-based clubs, and summer experiences. 

Volunteering with Gigi’s Creative Corner allows you to directly support young people as they build confidence, creativity, and meaningful connections through art—while honoring the legacy of an artist who believed deeply in sharing creativity with the next generation.


Responsibilities

Assist Daybreak Artists in facilitating hands-on art workshops (painting, collage, 3D projects, and more).Lead fun, creative activities and art challenges to keep students engaged.Support setup, cleanup, and preparation of art materials.Encourage student participation, creativity, and collaboration in a positive, inclusive environment.Help students reflect on their work and prepare for the culminating exhibition.

Qualifications

Passion for working with youth and the arts.Comfortable guiding small groups of students in creative projects.Reliable, responsible, and enthusiastic.Experience in visual arts or teaching is a plus, but not required.

Daybreak Arts is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Artwork Inventory Team to support our organization's efforts to document, organize, and maintain accurate records of artworks in our collection. This work ensures that all items are properly catalogued, cared for, and accessible for exhibitions, research, and archival purposes.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with cataloguing artworks by recording details such as title, artist, medium, dimensions, and condition.Photograph artworks and label images for digital records.Help verify and update existing inventory records.Input data into the collection management system or spreadsheet templates.Support staff in organizing storage areas and maintaining order within inventory spacesEdit raw images and upload artwork online.

Skills and Attributes

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Good organizational and record-keeping skills.Comfort working with databases, spreadsheets, or digital cataloguing tools (training provided).Ability to handle artworks with care and follow instructions precisely.Interest in art, museums, archives, or cultural heritage management.

Training and Support

Volunteers will receive training in safe art handling, cataloguing procedures, edit / upload processes and the use of the inventory database.In-person training date: Wednesday, February 4th, 11am - 3pm; additional/ individual trainings can be scheduledInventory volunteers may complete tasks during regular open studio hours or virtually.
