Grab some friends and get creative!

Volunteers will work in groups to prepare a reading circle for Family Literacy Day. The group will choose a theme, bring books to match the theme, and read with pre-K through 6th graders from Nashville public schools and the community during Family Literacy Day.

Reading Circles will happen continuously from 1-4pm. Individual volunteers are not required to be present for all three hours, but there should be at least 2-3 people present at each Reading Circle at all times.

Individuals can join day-of reading circles based on themed book groups. However, we encourage you to organize with a group and come prepared with books, decorations, and/or outfits to match your chosen theme! If you are volunteering as a part of a group, please indicate that in the response questions.

Belmont Music Connections is a student organization that partners with Our Place Nashville to share the joy of music. Through group and one-on-one lessons, residents have the chance to explore different instruments and build their musical skills. At the same time, Belmont students gain hands-on teaching experience in a supportive environment. Everyone gets to learn, grow, and make meaningful connections through music!

Requirements and Expectations

Volunteers are asked to commit to at least a 4-hour shift. Many volunteer roles involve extended periods of standing or walking. Some positions may include light to moderate lifting (15–50 lbs).

We recognize that not all volunteers have the same physical abilities. If you require accommodations or would prefer a role with seated work, limited mobility, or no lifting, please let us know. We are happy to assign you to a position that meets your needs and supports your ability to participate fully.

Join Nashville college students, faculty, and staff from nine area colleges & universities in honoring the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. King in a day of learning, action, and reflection. This year's program will feature a student panel in the morning, and then participants will head out into the community to serve at over 20 service sites around the city!

About the Hunt

What began as a small, community Egg Hunt 21 years ago by former Metro Nashville Council Member and former MNPS Metro Nashville Public Schools board member Karen Johnson, has turned into the Southeast Nashville Egg Hunt & Festival Event (SEE) with over 7,000 in attendance each year.

A group of community leaders plan this all-day event that includes egg hunts for all ages, vendor booths, a character parade, live entertainment, inflatables and special prizes.

Leaders from our government, schools, churches and community come together to provide this fun day for the families in our growing multi-cultural community.

Each year, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society hosts Walk MS: Nashville, a powerful community event that raises over $170,000 to fund essential programs, services, and research for people in our region living with multiple sclerosis. We are thrilled to announce that our 2026 event will take place on Saturday, March 28th.  

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in a fun and rewarding day. We are seeking volunteers to support various event areas, including setup and breakdown, registration, rest stops, food and beverage stations, and other special event activities.
