Come join Conexiόn Amѐricas as a volunteer English Language Learner instructor the spring term of 2023! We are recruiting volunteer instructors for our spring 2023 term for our adult English classes. The Adult Education Program at Conexión Américas has long been supporting the language learning needs of the immigrant community in the Nashville area. This affordable program is a key resource for immigrants as they seek to successfully integrate into the local community.
Volunteers will provide 1.5-hour lessons 1-2 evenings per week for the duration of a 13-week term (curriculum and syllabus are provided). This, combined with some lesson planning, will likely total to 3-6 volunteer hours per week (pending whether you teach 1 or 2 classes each week). There is the possibility of having a co-teacher, which can reduce the total number of volunteer hours per individual and add a fun, collaborative element to the experience. This rewarding experience allows for volunteers to serve as key cultural ambassadors and a friendly presence for newer members in the Nashville area. Teaching experience is highly recommended, but no teaching certification is required to volunteer for this role. We ask for volunteers to can commit to the full 13-week term, and can offer a letter of recommendation.
Our spring term classes will continue to meet through Zoom. When inquiring, please let me know if you are open to teaching online. Classes are typically held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30pm, but we can discuss some flexibility on the evenings lessons are provided.
Classes begin January 23, 2023 and will conclude April 24, 2022.
