The Shelby Park Community Center has an opportunity to turn a room within their gym into a weight room for visitors, and they need your help getting it ready! We'll be removing the contents of the room and painting the walls, so come ready to get messy!
What is the community impact of this event?
Once finished, this weight room will serve as a free community resource for those looking to utilize weights in their workout routines. Having access to this resource will directly impact community members' mental and physical wellbeing.
What will volunteers be doing at this event?
Volunteers will be painting the walls using rollers and brushes, sometimes working on ladders to do so. With this in mind, please wear clothing you don't mind getting messy with paint!
Accessibility
The event will be held inside an air-conditioned building with fans. There are bathrooms and running water located inside the Community Center, with plenty of parking outside. We will be using ladders to reach the higher sections of the walls, and we'll be scrubbing with sponges and rags.
What to bring?
Bringing a reusable water bottle is recommended but not required. Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting messy with paint. All necessary tools and gloves will be provided.
What’s next?
If you sign up for this event, you will receive a reminder email a few days before the event with specific instructions regarding parking and any other necessary information.
