As a Hospice Spiritual Companionship Volunteer, you will collaborate with our full-service medical and psycho-social care team to help patients and their family members. You will have the opportunity to offer companionship to patients in their home, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility while adhering to current health and safety guidelines. Volunteer time is flexible to work with your schedule.
Volunteer activities with patients include: Listening to a patient's stories, reading aloud to them from the spiritual text of their choice, listening to spiritual music, prayer, supporting a patient in their faith practices.
Volunteers are assigned to a patient with a similar faith/spiritual background to visit.
Volunteers DO NOT provide any hands-on care such as changing a patient, feeding a patient, bathing, giving medications, etc.
No previous hospice experience is needed, accentCare Hospice will provide training and support throughout your time as a volunteer. Our volunteers are part of our team that provides excellent care to those at the end of life. Your gift of compassionate presence is valued!

Requirements: all requirements paid for or provided by accentCare
- Criminal background check, provided by accentCare
- Tuberculosis blood draw and Health Screening, provided by accentCare
- Drug Screening, provided by accentCare
- Orientation classes virtually and one in person, orientation is approximately 16 hours, provided by accentCare
