Description

We invite you to join Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) and Glengarry Elementary School students and teachers to restore pollinator habitat with native wildflowers supporting pollinator species, native bees, butterflies, moths, and many more species. This pollinator garden will not only provide a habitat for pollinators but also create an excellent educational opportunity for students with hands-on experiences in ecology, taxonomy, environmental studies, and exposure to our beautiful natural world.

You will be engaged in the following activities :

  • remove pre-cut grass and invasive roots from the garden area
  • shovel and transport soil with wheelbarrows into the pollinator habitat
  • spread the soil with rakes
  • add native wildflower seeds to the soil

TEC provides water (please bring your reusable water bottle) and snacks, and in case you forget your garden gloves, we've got you covered.  Feel free to bring your own garden tools (rake, hoe, wheelbarrow, shovel, etc.), and be sure to dress for the garden (closed toed shoe, long sleeve shirt and long pants).

Important: While TEC volunteer events occur at the school, they are organized independently of the school. Please note that TEC volunteers do not have the permission to enter the school while on campus for the TEC volunteer events.
