Description

Wright Middle School is looking for male, Spanish speaking volunteers that would like to read a book with a 7th grader and learn about how to become a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters at Wright Middle. During this session, you will be paired with a student and read a chapter book alongside them. There will be a short activity to follow.

Afterwards, Big Brothers and Big Sisters will be presenting on how to become a mentor with them.

This event is in partnership with My Brothers Keeper Nashville. My Brother’s Keeper Nashville is actively engaging Metro Nashville Public School district (MNPS) in developing literacy interventions for young males of color. MNPS serves as an anchor in the citywide initiative called Raising Readers Nashville which adopts a collective impact model to drive sustainable change. The United Way of Greater Nashville serves as the coordinating and convening body for Raising Readers, and they have been early champions of My Brother’s Keeper Nashville’s literacy mission.
