Plant trees and be a part of Tennessee's biggest suburban stream restoration project. This project is planting native species like Sycamore and Oak along a newly restored stream channel in the Stephens Valley neighborhood bordering the Natchez Trace. This should be a very rewarding volunteer experience as the community comes together to plant nearly 1000 trees the week of March 11th to improve stream habitat and water quality in the Harpeth River watershed. Trace Creek, which runs through Stephen's Valley is undergoing a historic transformation to remove invasive species, stabilize eroding banks, and replant nearly 44 acres with native plants and trees. Learn more about Trace Creek and the groundbreaking work we're doing at Stephen's Valley to support it here!

Volunteer Registration: Everyone who volunteers with the Cumberland River Compact must register and create an account in VolunteerHUB. The address of the cleanup will not be provided until you do. Please click the hyperlink to be directed to the cleanup's sign-up page.

Wait-- who is the Cumberland River Compact?

  • Supplies for all volunteer events are provided. We ask that you bring your own water and snacks.
  • Please wear clothes and closed-toed shoes you don't mind getting wet or dirty.
