Help us measure facilities to identify barriers to accessibility!
The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) is partnering with Robertson County on the County’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)Transition Plan. The ADA Transition Plan satisfies a requirement of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act for Robertson County to conduct a self-evaluation of the compliance of its programs, activities, and services that interface with members of the general public and identify the necessary actions and timelines to ensure compliance. As part of the ADA Transition Plan, an inventory of barriers in Robertson County’s facilities needs to be completed. The inventory of barriers will identify physical obstacles in Robertson County’s facilities that limit the accessibility of its programs or activities to individuals with disabilities.
Volunteers will accompany a GNRC staff member to help conduct facility evaluations as a part of creating the inventory of barriers for the County’s ADA Transition Plan.
During the facility evaluation, volunteers will be required to be able to use a measuring device and level. Each evaluation will take 2-3 hours to complete and will include standing, walking, going up and down stairs, kneeling (sometimes on uneven surfaces), and other movements required to take measurements.
Once you have signed up for a shift, we will contact you with details regarding the specific meeting locations and time frames. Generally most are going to be full days, but we can discuss with you and figure out a schedule based on your availability.
Thank you so much for considering this opportunity!
