Without volunteers we couldn’t do all the things we’ve been doing in our community. We could not keep expanding in ways we dream of to become even more involved with the residents of Nashville and the surrounding areas without volunteer help.  We get to meet and help new people every day who visit our store.

As a Hospice Spiritual Companionship Volunteer, you will collaborate with our full-service medical and psycho-social care team to help patients and their family members. You will have the opportunity to offer companionship to patients in their home, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility while adhering to current health and safety guidelines. Volunteer time is flexible to work with your schedule.

Volunteer activities with patients include: Listening to a patient's stories, reading aloud to them from the spiritual text of their choice, listening to spiritual music, prayer, supporting a patient in their faith practices.

Volunteers are assigned to a patient with a similar faith/spiritual background to visit.

Volunteers DO NOT provide any hands-on care such as changing a patient, feeding a patient, bathing, giving medications, etc.

accentCare Hospice is looking for Volunteers to visit patients throughout Middle TN in Davidson, Williamson, Cheatham, Dickson, and Hickman Counties.

As a Hospice Patient Companionship Volunteer, you will collaborate with our full-service medical and psycho-social care team to help patients and their family members. You will have the opportunity to offer companionship to patients in their home, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility while adhering to current health and safety guidelines. Volunteer time is flexible to work with your schedule. Must have transportation, we place you with a patient near your home.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of Cul2vate! Cul2vate can be a wonderful vessel to share your God-given gifts, talents, and skills. There are many different volunteer opportunities, from working on the farm to belonging to a prayer group to helping with data entry.

Volunteering with Cul2vate does not require a green thumb!  Working alongside the Cul2vators and staff sharing your personal experiences can provide growth for all. As our volunteer team says, “We receive so many more blessings than we give!” We work to provide a volunteer orientation session for individual volunteers each month of the growing season.

We would love for you to become a regular - weekly or bi-weekly - volunteer with Cul2vate. We are working to schedule volunteer orientations to get you started. 

Tasks will include but are not limited to planting, harvesting, weeding, hoeing, cleaning, boxing produce, and more! We'd love for you to become a regular part of the Cul2vate community.

Come and make a dogs day! Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control (MACC) has nearly 100 fantastic dogs available for adoption and they need your help! Our dogs need your help getting them out throughout the day for fun romps in one of our play yards, extended walks, or something even just a friendly lap to cuddle on! Make a meaningful impact in just a few hours a month. As a Big in our Site-Based Program, you’ll be matched with a local student (“Little”) based on shared interests and personality, making it easy to connect and build a genuine relationship.

Meet with your Little 2–3 times per month during an after-school program or school day

Play games, help with homework, or just spend time talking

Encourage your Little’s confidence and curiosity

Saddle Up!’s mission is to provide children and youth with disabilities the opportunity to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational and recreational activities with horses. We bring that mission to life by providing a year-round program on our 34-acre farm near Franklin, TN.

Saddle Up! could not operate without the dedicated help of an army of volunteers from our community. There are numerous positions that require a wide variety of talents.  All volunteers MUST attend New Volunteer Training before participating in any of the below listed opportunities.

This volunteer interacts with and helps our special riders. Assigned to a particular rider in a riding lesson, this volunteer helps the rider get the horse ready, helps them get on the horse, and walks next to the rider throughout the mounted portion of the lesson providing support as needed. This is the person most involved with helping our special needs riders. Sidewalkers must be at least 16 years-old and able to walk briskly beside a horse for an average of 30 minutes. There are opportunities to sidewalk on a weekly basis or sub in as a sidewalker on any days when you are available.

This volunteer is in charge of a horse in a riding lesson. They pre-groom the horse before the lesson, help with tacking, and lead the horse throughout the lesson. Most riders who have leaders are unable to fully control their horse. After the lesson, they are responsible for putting the horse back where it needs to go and returning all equipment to the tack room. Leaders are volunteers over the age of 16 and must be able to walk at a fast pace for 30 minutes and jog intermittently during the lesson. They should be very comfortable with horses and react calmly if an incident arises.

The Gift of Life Campus Ambassador Program (CAP) enlists students like you for an internship to run cheek swab drives on your campus. We are looking to animate our nine animal characters, Behavior Bear, Do'er Duck, Friendship Frog, Healthy Hippo, Manners Monkey, Respectful Rabbit, Responsible Rabbit, Self-Esteem Elephant and Warm-Hearted Walrus.  Using 2D Vector files, and adobe to bring these characters to life in short animations. We'll start out simple and grow from there! Would love for you to join our journey!

At Ella's House, we exist to support pregnant and parenting students in Middle Tennessee through housing, community, and mental health and wellness initiatives to provide holistic help--through semesters and trimesters. 

We are looking for students with a heart and passion for helping others. The campus ambassador program is for current college students that are involved on their campus. Campus ambassadors' job is to help spread awareness, educate peers, and recruit new volunteers.

Requirements:

1. Meet with volunteer coordinator at the beginning of the semester to set goals. (Ex. “I want to serve every Wednesday afternoon” or “I want to help plan a mommy mixer”)

2. Actively serve at Ella’s House throughout the year; Minimum is 1x a month.

3. Assist EH staff at your campus’ service fair and the “finals coffee” table on campus.

4. Serve at the annual fundraiser, Night Circus, in early February.

5. Complete end of year survey and nominate 2 peers you think should be an ambassador next year.

Always looking for board members. Learn about the inner workings of a non-profit. Provide insight from the perspective of the next generation. 

GNRC is partnering with Trevecca Towers to pair Friendly Visitors with Residents at the Senior Living Highrise. Residents at Trevecca Towers are 62 years and up, some are younger if they have a disability. Many of the residents are quite isolated and would greatly benefit from a connection with a community volunteer. 

Commitment: Spend time regularly with your assigned residents at least once a month. Visits can vary in length based on mutual comfort. Once you have been matched, visits can be coordinated directly between resident and volunteer. 

You can spend time talking, playing games, reading, doing crafts or crossword puzzles depending on mutual interest. Many residents are also interested in help navigating their cell phone. So, if you are well versed and able to help spent some time explaining how to do things, that would be appreciated. Some clients need help with light household tasks.

Next steps: Please express interest in the opportunity and we will reach out to you with more details, to match you with a resident and to schedule an initial visit. After the initial visit you will be able to schedule your visits directly with the residents independently. If you'd like to visit more than one resident, we can arrange for that as well.

Make a dogs weekend!  Take a dog on a bow-wow breakout and let them spend time chilling at home, walking on the greenway, or whatever other fun event you can think of!  A bow-wow breakout helps our dogs get a break from the kennel and introduces them to new people, environments, and new experiences...and it helps them get adopted! 

This is the volunteering option for you if you need a small amount of hours! 

Available 12-4pm 7 days a week.  All dogs must return to the shelter by 4pm. 

If you do keep the dog at your residence overnight the maximum number of service hours you can receive will be 8 hours per day.    

No dogs are allowed overnights at any campus housing.  If you live off-campus you MUST provide MACC staff written permission from your landlord that dogs are ok on the premises overnight.

Are you interested in helping Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC) and engaging in your community in an active and hands-on environment?  Are you looking for a short-term volunteer opportunity?  Do you enjoy talking directly to members of your community?  Join the MACC Street Team!  We are looking for a diverse group of team members who can walk, drive, bike, roller skate, hop, etc…to various locations throughout Davidson County to hang flyers and talk with local community members about upcoming shelter events, found animals, rabies/microchip clinics, long-stay shelter dogs, and more!  Help us advocate for MACC shelter animals and help manage community business bulletin boards, local business contacts, and organizations where flyers can be placed.  This is a great way to get a few volunteer hours in and help spread the mission of MACC throughout Davidson County.  Please consider joining us if you like the following; scavenger hunts, walking, driving, or biking to new establishments, talking with local organizations and business owners, love organization, and like to collaborate with a team of dedicated volunteers!  Interested volunteers must complete the MACC Volunteer Application and complete a virtual volunteer orientation.  Volunteers will receive 10 minutes of service credit for each flyer they put up.

At MyRide West TN, we are dedicated to supporting as many older adults as possible. We are always striving to make a difference in people's lives! You can help us with that mission by by becoming a "Waymaker". The Tennessee State Health Insurance Assistance Program (TN SHIP) is a free, non-based Medicare counseling program that assists Medicare beneficiaries and their families make the best choices for their health care needs. The GiGi's Playhouse 1:1 Literacy Tutoring Programs uses a methodology with documented success based on research by professionals in the field. The ability to read opens doors for individuals with Down syndrome in the workplace, schools and the community.  Developing reading skills also leads to improvements in speech and language development, auditory perceptual skills and working memory function.  Our goal is to foster a love for reading and provide an opportunity to develop and master skills, all while building a positive relationship with our volunteer tutors.  

We have various free therapeutic-based programs based on the different ages of our participants. 

Some Example of Programs That We Provide:

Fantastic Friends: (18+) The Fantastic Friends Adult Program meets weekly to provide opportunities for socialization and community involvement, while creating a fun and memorable experience for its participants. Participants work on vocational, communication, and social skills to boost confidence and encourage independence. 

Yoga: Teens and Adults (13+) and Yoga: Kids (8-12): This program promotes healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness through a proactive and routine that integrates physical, mental, and emotional development. This program helps participants develop personal awareness and learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage emotions and impulses. 

LMNOP: Language, Music, N' Our Peeps (0-3): This program is an interactive and engaging program for young children with Down syndrome and their families. It guides parents and children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language-based activities. 

Teentastic (13-18): Focuses on building social skills with friends without Down syndrome by participating in team-based activities in a casual and fun setting. Skill development includes understanding compromise, turn-taking and problem-solving abilities.

GiGi's Kitchen (all age groups): Our GiGi’s Kitchen programs are designed to emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle and early exposure to practical cooking skills. Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will engage in activities designed to promote healthy eating habits, kitchen safety awareness, food preparation skills, self-confidence, and social skills by applying learned skills as they prepare and enjoy a shared meal/snack!

Our memory care facility is looking for compassionate volunteers to spend time with our residents. You’ll participate in a variety of activities designed to stimulate creativity, promote social interaction, and bring joy to our residents. Whether you're an experienced artist or just enjoy spending time with others, we welcome volunteers of all backgrounds.

Activities may include:

Arts and crafts (simple projects like painting, drawing, and crafting)

Sing-alongs and musical sessions

Storytelling and reminiscing

Reading books, poems, or short stories aloud

Writing letters, poems, or journaling with residents

Scrapbooking with residents to help them preserve memories

Playing easy games or puzzles

Casual conversations and providing companionship

Our long term memory care facility is looking for someone to provide hair cuts to our residents. 

Our long term memory care facility is looking for volunteers to donate their time to visit with residents who are unable to leave their bed. Volunteers can read to residents, chat with residents, complete arts and craft projects, play an instrument, watch a movie, or share stories with residents, or engage in a volunteer planned activity.

Our long term care facility is looking for a musician or singer to donate their time and talent to our residents. Most of our residents have a love of music and would enjoy any musical performance. 

Listening to music is a wonderful and cherished activity for our residents. We always welcome performances from Belmont students.

FiftyForward has opportunities for volunteers to assist with a wide variety of programming for older adults enrolled in our FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services Program.  Volunteers are needed to assist staff with bingo, arts and crafts, and karaoke. 

Volunteers help provide engagement and a sense of community for FiftyForward Friends clients. By bringing their own passions and interests to share in the Friends space, volunteers help clients to reconnect with their sense of self.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic. Hands On has prioritized ways for volunteers to give of their time while remote. Through our Virtual Volunteerism page, we curate an updated list of virtual volunteer opportunities. These include orientations, social media internships, tutoring opportunities, and more. 

Signing up is easy! Make an account, express interest, and our volunteer coordinators will contact you directly with how you can get started.

Our Café Program happens each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We are looking for singer/songwriters to come perform during the duration of our program. Our current musicians plan a set between 60 - 90 minutes of originals and covers. We ask that musicians arrive no later than 8:15am so that they can set up appropriately and we close our program by 10am.

We do provide a keyboard, mics, and plug ins for guitars. Please reach out to schedule dates.
