We're looking for volunteers for the Skills A Back-to-School Bash at the Academy at Old Cockrill. Volunteers will assist with a variety of event responsibilities, including backpack distribution, event check-in, greeting students and families, directing traffic, event setup and breakdown, and providing general support throughout the day to help create a welcoming experience for everyone attending.

Please note that this opportunity is for event volunteers only. Organizations and businesses interested in hosting a resource table should email familyandcommunitypartnerships@mnps.org for tabling information.

This event take place on August 7th (Friday) from 11:00am-1:00pm and may be held outdoors or in school gyms, so please dress appropriately for the summer weather, wear sunscreen, and get prepared for the heat.

The volunteers will assist with passing out backpacks to families as well as working a station like the bounce house and other stations.

Help brighten someone’s day through the simple gift of companionship. Volunteers at West Meade Place spend time visiting with individuals who may benefit from conversation, encouragement, and a friendly face.

Visits may include talking, listening to stories, reading aloud, playing cards or simple games, enjoying music, or simply sitting together. No medical experience is needed. Volunteers receive training and support from Caris Healthcare.

This opportunity is perfect for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and comfortable spending one-on-one time with older adults.

Volunteer hours are as many as you want to spend! We do ask for at least a one semester commitment 

Bring comfort and connection to individuals at The Meadows by becoming a companionship volunteer. This role centers on building relationships through regular, friendly visits.

Volunteers may spend time talking, listening, reading, enjoying music, completing simple activities, or simply being present. Each visit is shaped by the interests and comfort of the individual being visited.

No medical experience is necessary. Caris Healthcare provides training, ongoing support, and help getting connected at the facility.

Support Caris Hospice behind the scenes by serving as an Administrative Volunteer. This role is a great fit for volunteers who enjoy staying organized, helping with office projects, and supporting meaningful work in a practical way.

Administrative Volunteers may assist with tasks such as clerical work, assembling information packets, making calls, answering phones, organizing medical supplies, computer-based projects, creating bulletin boards, helping with holiday decorations, and assisting with community events, projects, or presentations. This role helps our team serve patients and families more effectively every day.

Volunteers typically serve in or through our Nashville office during weekday business hours. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who want to make a difference in hospice care without providing direct patient care.

Overview

Adventure Science Center transforms into a spine‑tingling after-hours experience inspired by classic summer slasher films. Way Late Play Date: Camp Fear invites guests to adventure into the “why” behind the scare, offering s’more screams, s’more science, s’more fun. Guests will explore the building as an eerie “summer camp” filled with themed zones, interactive activities, and playful nods to iconic horror tropes. From creepy-cabin vibes to science with a sinister twist, it’s an adults-only night of thrills, discovery, and campy fun. Costumes are encouraged, but full face masks are not permitted.

We are seeking volunteers (18+) to assist in our school libraries with weekly shelving and collection maintenance. We also need volunteers willing to help on occasion with special projects. Volunteers must complete and pass a background check before participating. Upon Registration, you will receive a secondary email asking for more information about your interest. Please check your email. 

Once registration is complete, you'll be matched with a school in need as a Volunteer or Special Project Volunteer.

Volunteers commit to a regular schedule for volunteering to help shelve books, inventory new arrivals, and help with unboxing of new materials. Special Project Volunteers will be contacted as needs arise to assist with collection inventory and relocation.

Give parents a morning to recharge while creating a fun and memorable experience for a child or sibling.

Embrace Special Needs Ministry hosts monthly respite events for families impacted by disability, providing children with a safe, engaging environment while parents enjoy a few hours of rest.

As a Respite Buddy, you'll be paired one-on-one with a child with a disability or their sibling (ages 3–11) for a morning filled with fun, friendship, and encouragement. During our August event, we'll enjoy water slides, a dance party, snacks, and a movie.

Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that can get wet, as you'll likely join in—or at least get splashed! Breakfast and a brief volunteer orientation will be provided before the event begins.

This opportunity is perfect for students interested in special education, therapy, psychology, social work, ministry, nursing, or anyone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a meaningful impact.

All volunteers must complete Brentwood Baptist Church's volunteer onboarding process, including a background check, prior to serving. If you're interested, we'd love to help you get started.

Volunteers serve from 5:45–7:45 PM alongside experienced leaders in one of our age-based ministries: Preschool, Kids, Students, or Adults. We'll help place you in the classroom or group that best matches your interests and comfort level.

No previous experience is required. We'll provide training, encouragement, and ongoing support as you grow in confidence and build meaningful relationships.

This opportunity is ideal for students exploring careers in special education, occupational therapy, physical therapy, music therapy, art therapy, speech-language pathology, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, ministry, or other helping professions—but anyone with a heart to serve is welcome.

Come help us teach swimming and water safety to special needs swimmers.  Our volunteers support swimmers in the water while being led by our certified instructors.  Get experience working with people with a wide range of diagnoses and collect serious smiles along the way!  You do not need experience or training, just a desire to make a huge difference in the lives of our swimmers and their families.  All classes run from September to November.  Come for one class or the entire session.  Classes are totally free to participants and their families because of our amazing volunteers. WE NEED YOU!

As we prepare to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, we are honored to invite you to be part of this historic day of service and remembrance. Through this nationwide initiative, more than 50,000 volunteers across 50 cities will come together to pack 20 million meals for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

Commitment:

Duties:   

Create an atmosphere of care, trust, and safety by intentionally building  healthy relationships with middle school participants.  

Learn about instructional strategies used with English Learners, especially  those with significant cultural barriers from first generation families.  

Lead activities, such as stations, lessons, games, and special events that   

Encourage skill development Support the NAZA after-school program

Perform research around SIFE specific instructional strategies

HAPI provides free classes taught by a professional artist to a person with mental illness.  Additionally, HAPI encourages and advances HAPI artists by curating, managing, and promoting public exhibitions across Tennessee.  Exhibits close to peer support centers allow artists and their peers to view their art publicly.  Public display of their work builds artists' confidence and pride in their abilities and brings a new degree of respect and support from their family and friends.

Title of Position: Adult Education - ESL Intern

Internship Period: Flexible 

Purpose: The Adult Education program supports English language learners as they integrate into life in the US. The Positive Path Tour is a mentorship initiative designed to support justice-involved youth by providing guidance, encouragement, and real-life examples of growth and resilience. Mentors commit to donating at least two hours per week to build consistent, supportive relationships with youth, helping them explore positive alternatives and develop life skills. Through one-on-one sessions, group discussions, and structured activities, mentors serve as role models of integrity and accountability, encouraging youth to pursue education, employment, and personal development. No prior experience is required—just a commitment to show up, listen, and walk alongside young people on their journey toward a better future.

Join the Healing Arts Project Inc. HAPI by supporting our Marketing and Social Media efforts. If you have a passion for writing, taking photos, social media, telling stories, and helping spread awareness, then we are looking for you.  This position could be in person or remote. The hours are flexible as well, but the Site Supervisor is only available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  We prefer someone to do at least 3 hours a week but would welcome more. 

This is a new initiative for HAPI. We plan to operate the Art Store every Thursday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, assist with inquiries, and provide information about the artworks and artists.

Sales Transactions: Handle sales transactions, including cash and credit card payments, and issue receipts.

Inventory Management: Assist with inventory tasks, such as restocking items and updating inventory records.

Promotion: Help promote store events and special offers to customers.

Support Artists: Provide support to artists who are displaying their work in the store.

accentCare Hospice is looking for Musically Talented Volunteers to visit patients throughout Middle TN in Davidson, Williamson, Cheatham, Dickson, and Hickman Counties.  

As a Hospice Music Volunteer, you will collaborate with our full-service medical and psycho-social care team to help patients and their family members. You will have the opportunity to offer music to patients in their home, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility while adhering to current health and safety guidelines. Volunteer time and area is flexible to work with your schedule.

Volunteer activities with patients include: Listening to a patient's stories, playing your musical instrument of choice, singing, discussing music, writing a song together, bringing a device/speaker to play music on, but most of all, supporting someone dealing with a terminal illness.

Volunteers DO NOT provide any hands-on care such as changing a patient, feeding a patient, bathing, giving medications, etc.)

Raise Your Hand Tutoring provides free academic intervention to students in Montgomery, Robertson, and Williamson Counties. We serve several local elementary and middle schools that would benefit from your help as a volunteer tutor. As a volunteer tutor, you will work alongside a teacher to provide small-group reading intervention to our students.

We offer flexible scheduling with several locations either in the morning before school or after school. Our sessions are year round with a Spring, Summer, and Fall session - You only have to sign up for one hour a week for the duration of the session.

Do you have 1 hour that you are willing to give to a student each week? If so, we would love for you to consider becoming a LUNCH BUDDY! 

Lunch Buddies are volunteers who go into a school to meet with a student once a week during the student's lunch period. The volunteer and student have some time together to build a relationship and do various activities together, including playing games, coloring and reading together. 

This is a program where volunteers get to help students see and reach their full potential, because at PTM, we know that close positive relationships help students THRIVE! 

All participating schools are elementary schools in Northwest Nashville (37208 or 37209).

Lunch times range from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Volunteers will need their own reliable transportation to get to each visit. 

This is the volunteer need we are recruiting for MOST! Our goal at PTM is for every student to have a mentor, and students LOVE having a Lunch Buddy! We are especially in need of male Lunch Buddies as we have many male students asking for a Lunch Buddy and few male mentors!

Do you find Medicare interesting?

Would you enjoy being a popular resource on all things Medicare for your friends, family and the community?

Then this opportunity is for you! Volunteers with the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) will learn how to break up the complicated issue of Medicare into bite size pieces for others and provide assistance to them in choosing the Medicare plans and assistance options (if applicable) that are right for them. You will learn to provide unbiased and accurate information to anyone you assist. 

SHIP Volunteers will be able to give clients peace of mind and can witness first-hand the impact they are making in the beneficiary's life with the information they provide. 

This training is designed for new volunteers to the program. Attendance of all activities are required to become certified as a counselor. The classes will build on each other, so it is important not to miss a session.

For volunteers who'd like to attend events to share Medicare information and do plan comparisons or administrative work for the program but NO direct client counseling there is the option to attend just up to the second-class session.

Any volunteer who would like to be a full counselor will need to attend the full curriculum (all three class sessions as well as participate in the required activities in-between the sessions). Full certification as a counselor requires a minimum of 12 hours of in class training AND additional mentoring thereafter until the volunteer is able to provide counseling on their own. 

Medicare Volunteer Certification Curriculum

Class 1: Thursday, August 6 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm (virtual via Microsoft Teams)

Class 2: Friday, August 14 from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm (in-person at GNRC's offices)

Class 3: Friday, August 21 from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm (in-person at GNRC's offices)

Part of your training is hands-on experience. You can participate in a variety of different events. The event schedule will be provided during the first session. In addition, we will schedule counseling calls for you to observe. You will be asked to provide your availability to shadow counseling calls prior to the start of the cohort. 

We will go over the training schedule with you to determine what level of training and commitment is best for you. Application forms and initial conversation with the Volunteer Manager are required for participation. The Martha O'Bryan Center needs upbeat, positive volunteers to assist in the food pantry. On Mondays and Thursdays, volunteers will be able to help with unloading deliveries. Every day of the week, volunteers will be able to work alongside clients to 'shop' in our food pantry and pick out the items that will serve them the most. Volunteers will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the premises, bringing heavier boxes out to client cars.

On a foundation of Christian faith, Martha O’Bryan Center empowers children, youth, and adults in poverty to transform their lives through work, education, employment and fellowship.

The Martha O’Bryan Center is an anti-poverty non-profit organization with longstanding history and deep community roots, founded in 1894. Our headquarter campus sits in the East Nashville public housing campus of Cayce Place, currently transforming into the mixed-income neighborhood Boscobel Heights.  This is where we operate most of our programs, supporting education goals for learners of all ages, empowering youth and adults in their careers, and providing stability and support services for individuals and families.

Here at Room In The Inn, we provide over 250 meals a day. We are always in need of volunteers Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11am - 1pm to help us provide the best lunch service possible. Our lunch program is a great way to engage with those experiencing homelessness while giving back to our community.

We are in need of volunteers on Thursdays in one of our ELL classes at The Branch Mondays(6:15-8:15) or at The Southeast Branch of Nashville Public Library (6:00pm-7:45pm). This need would ideally be served by someone who can make a weekly commitment. Meet and greet adults who are taking English classes at The Branch. Direct them to their classes and serve as conversation partners for workbook and conversation activities and assist teacher with reading, writing, and in-class activities. 

We help clients connect to the right person in the right organization fort heir immediate
need, whether it’s housing, immigration, healthcare, job help, or more. We are trusted
connectors to resources, people and, programs. Ideally, but NOT required a resource navigator speaks- Spanish or Arabic to best communicate with many of our neighbors.

How It Works
As a volunteer resource navigator, you will be part of the Comprehensive Care program
at The Branch. You will:
Schedule volunteer shifts with Ashley Smith. The commitment is a minimum of 8
hours a month (that’s either two full volunteer shifts from 10-2 or four, half-time
shifts from either10-Noon or Noon-2)for at least 3 months.
Attend a training during your first navigator session. You’ll learn about the resources
available to clients, the tools we use to help our clients, and the process to follow
when a neighbor comes to the pantry and has needs beyond food.
You will be at the front desk during food pantry hours. You will talk to clients as they
come into The Branch to fill out paperwork; you’ll go out to their cars to see if they
need help navigating to other resources.
Document all referrals you’ve provided clients (this will be part of the training) on the
same day of your volunteer shift.
At the end of your 3-month commitment, meet with Ashley to discuss your
experience and if you would like to continue for another 3 months, or to take a break
for the next 3 months and then come back for another 3 months.

Food Delivery Drivers for Senior/Disabled Clients within a 10 mile radius from The Branch:Volunteers are needed to organize contents of the food carts into easy to carry boxes/bags, labeling boxes/bags with delivery client's name, load their own car with boxes/bags for delivery and drive to the client's residence to drop off boxes/bags at their doorstep. Volunteers will need to sign a release form and present a driver’s license before delivering. Each volunteer will receive a delivery list with the names and addresses of the clients they are going to deliver to. The number of clients that you will deliver to is approximately 2-4 clients. Days:Tuesdays Afternoons 10am-1pm and/orSaturdays mornings 9:30am-12pm. 

We need help assisting in the setting up, tearing down and serving in the event room for Senior Adult Social. Will include seating, table decor, snack and information table as well as socializing with senior clients during activity.

Overview: Learn about the relationship between food and the environment, focusing on the environmental benefits of a plant-based diet. Plan and execute an event on campus that highlights the accessibility of plant-based foods, communicates environmental issues through the lens of our food system, and brings the campus community together.

Learn about the current state of food, environmental, and relevant policy, such as the FISCAL Act, the Farm Bill, and other local bills. Then, write a letter to the editor responding to a published article about one of these bills or an op-ed sharing your viewpoint more generally about these policy proposals. Attempt to get your piece published in a school newspaper, a local outlet, or even a regional or national one!
