GNRC will be holding its Second Annual Older American's Month Celebration on May 19th from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The event is a celebration of Aging with informational sessions, Musical Bingo, refreshments, and resource tables. 

We'd love to have an experiences indoor photographer to help capture the faces of the event and ongoing activities.

We'd ask that you arrive at 8:30am, so we can quickly orient you to your role before participants arrive.

Volunteers can help make the event a success by volunteering in the following roles:

Greeters (2): Greet people as they arrive and guide them to the registration table making them feel welcome. 

Registration (2): Help people with signing in for the event.

Refreshments (2): Manage the refreshment table.

Break down (2): Help with breaking down materials, posters etc. down after the event. 

Volunteers are asked to arrive at 8:30am, so we can quickly orient you to your role before participants arrive. Feel free to indicate in the notes when you sign up if you would prefer a specific role and we will do our best to accommodate everyone. We appreciate your help in making this event a success. 

Senior Ride Nashville is growing our volunteer driver team! Drivers use their own vehicles to transport seniors to community centers, medical appointments, grocery stores, beauty/barber shops and more. Help a senior get where they need to go and make a friend in the process! Volunteer shifts are flexible and scheduled at your convenience using an easy online tool. SRN provides rides Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

It is Senior Ride Nashville’s mission to enrich the lives of older adults and engage them in the community by providing affordable and assisted transportation.

FiftyForward Fresh Meals on Wheels delivers healthy meals to the doorsteps of older adults on specific routes in the Nashville community. We are looking for friendly, compassionate volunteers to deliver nutritious meals, create a social connection, and provide weekly check-ins with our clients. 
 
Routes are currently available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and include the following neighborhoods to choose from: 12 South, Donelson, Bellevue, Leah Rose Towers (Green Hills), and Trevecca Towers.

This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity that greatly impacts the health and well-being of older adults experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers also help by creating a community connection that combats loneliness and social isolation. 

Unlock your creative talents and help the participants at FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services do the same! 

Help Fifty Forward Friends with arts & crafts activities that are planned and led by staff.

No artistic talent is needed, just patience and an appreciation for freedom of expression.  Volunteers will assist one-on-one or in small groups as Friends complete simple projects that bring them joy. Volunteers should be able to complete simple "craft" tasks that include scissoring, tying simple knots, and other fine motor skills. Most importantly, volunteers should be comfortable conversing with older adults and encouraging their creativity.

Volunteer shifts are available on Thursdays from 1 to 2:30pm. Sign up for specific shifts here or express interest by responding to this opportunity and we will follow up with you.

Our Arts & Crafts volunteer opportunity occurs indoors in an ADA-compliant building with ample seating available + restrooms and filtered water. 

FiftyForward is committed to providing active, older adults with quality programming that enhances their lives and provides opportunities to learn, grow and serve others.  Additionally, FiftyForward provides resources for older adults who need assistance with housing, nutrition, and medical care.  

FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services is a licensed program where adults 50 and older - who may have cognitive, memory, or physical needs - can continue to thrive and enjoy an active life. Our nurturing and supportive day program features a variety of engaging, fun activities that encourage daily learning, social interaction and connection, and an enhanced quality of life.  

Volunteers help provide engagement and a sense of community for FiftyForward Friends clients. By bringing their own passions and interests to share in the Friends space, volunteers help clients to reconnect with their sense of self. 

Transportation is a challenge for many seniors in Nashville and providing a ride is a meaningful way to help our older neighbors get where they need to go. Senior Ride Nashville keeps older adults connected to their community by providing affordable and assisted transportation for our riders. We are looking for caring, reliable volunteer drivers to provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, beauty/barber shops, community centers and more!  Your time can make a big difference in the lives of older adults in Nashville.

SRN drivers use their own vehicles and select rides based on their availability, location, and interest using an online scheduling tool. Volunteer drivers must complete an orientation and a background and motor vehicle record check before driving responsibilities begin. Records are checked on a recurring basis.

GNRC is partnering with Trevecca Towers to pair Friendly Visitors with Residents at the Senior Living Highrise. Residents at Trevecca Towers are 62 years and up, some are younger if they have a disability. Many of the residents are quite isolated and would greatly benefit from a connection with a community volunteer. 

Commitment: Spend time regularly with your assigned residents at least once a month. Visits can vary in length based on mutual comfort. Once you have been matched, visits can be coordinated directly between resident and volunteer. 

You can spend time talking, playing games, reading, doing crafts or crossword puzzles depending on mutual interest. Many residents are also interested in help navigating their cell phone. So, if you are well versed and able to help spent some time explaining how to do things, that would be appreciated. Some clients need help with light household tasks.

Next steps: Please express interest in the opportunity and we will reach out to you with more details, to match you with a resident and to schedule an initial visit. After the initial visit you will be able to schedule your visits directly with the residents independently. If you'd like to visit more than one resident, we can arrange for that as well.
