Who We Are

The Family Wellbeing Program (FWP) began in 2019 and is a partnership between Belmont University, The Store, and the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS). The Store operates as a year-round free grocery store allowing people to shop for their basic needs. There is no charge to those referred or to the people and agencies that send them. They may shop for food to supplement their income during times of crisis and as they work toward self-sufficiency.

What We Do

Through grant funding from the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS), the FWP provides wraparound services to low-income families receiving food assistance from The Store. Light case management and a robust referral partner network helps to fill the gaps for our families as they move towards “wellbeing” for their family.

The Youth Development Program (YDP) is a new department within the Family Wellbeing Program. YDP exists to provide space and support for all clients who are under the age of 18 years old. YDP implements youth development initiatives designed to strengthen the social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral skills of young people. The goal of YDP is to utilize innovative and collaborative learning approaches that are focused on effectively and equitably advancing youth development opportunities and support for youth. Services provided to youth clients by YDP include but are not limited to Kids in the Kitchen cooking classes, tutoring, special topics workshops and classes, music therapy group classes, camps, intentional Thursday night programming, and other age-appropriate events/activities.
