Founded in 2006, Communities And Students Together for Learning-Enhanced Service (CASTLES), educates and equips college students, community stakeholders, and neighborhood partners with the knowledge, skills, and experience to improve the health and wellness of underserved or marginalized communities in Davidson County, Tennessee. CASTLES achieves this by working with three primary groups of partners:
- Community: Partnering with established community agencies to bridge and leverage the resources of the community with those of our partner academic organizations
- Research & Evaluation: Implementing replicable models with evidence-based curriculum
- Student: Involving undergraduate and graduate students in community-engaged program evaluation, research, organizational capacity building, and implementation of pilot community initiatives
