Absentee voting is the process of voting on things such as policies or office positions of one region from another. This allows for citizens that are unable to be present at the voting sites for their respective state or county to still participate in fulfilling their civic duties. People like military stationed outside the United States or their families and any eligible citizens living overseas benefit from absentee voting.
In addition to American citizens living internationally, citizens living outside their home states can vote absentee. University students like most of us here at Belmont in Tennessee are originally from another state or at least county and can definitely benefit from the absentee voting option. We are not to be discouraged from voting simply because we do not reside in the region which we wish to contribute our votes to.
The process by which you can vote absentee is simple. All you need to do is request an absentee ballot request for your state, complete the necessary steps from there, and mail In your vote.
