What:
Please join Tennessee Environmental Council in maintaining our rain gardens along Grassy Branch Creek and the Peter Jenkins Walking Trail in Spring Hill, TN. We will be weeding and adding new plants to these gardens.
Where:
This volunteer opportunity will occur near the Peter Jenkins Walking Trail in the Wyngate Estates subdivision in Spring Hill. We will meet at the trailhead located near 2264 Haywood Lane. TEC Field Operations Manager Jordan Young will meet you there and outfit you with all the necessary tools.
When:
This event will occur on Thursday, May 1st, 2025, beginning at 9:00 am and ending around noon.
Why:
Rain gardens are a sustainable and effective way to manage stormwater, improve water quality, support biodiversity, and create visually appealing spaces. They are particularly important in urban areas where traditional drainage systems may be inadequate or outdated.
What to bring and what to wear?
Please wear suitable clothing for working outdoors, such as gloves, boots, hats, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts. It is essential to wear sturdy closed-toe shoes. Additionally, please remember to bring your water bottle and sunscreen. TEC will provide the necessary tools, extra gloves, and refillable water.
