On Monday, September 1 (Labor Day), Mercy Community Healthcare will host their biggest fundraiser of the year: The Franklin Classic. They are expecting around 2000 people to participate in the run and spend time in race village in the Downtown Franklin Square. As they plan this year's event, they need your help.
It takes a lot of hands to make the Mercy Franklin Classic a success, and with this event being held on a holiday, they have trouble finding people to volunteer. They are looking for volunteers for setup, tear down, course monitors, water stations and the kids zone. Individuals are welcome, as well as groups in search of community volunteer hours or want to meet new people and make new friends.
Above is a screenshot of the volunteer positions they still need filled. If signing up as a group (for example, if you want to provide all of the set up volunteers) then you can reach out to Raye McDonald, Director of Events and Engagement, at rayem@mercytn.org.
If you would like to to sign up individually, in addition to responding to this Need through Get Connected, please complete by completing the form found on the volunteer link is on the right side of this website: 2025 — Mercy Franklin Classic — Race Roster — Registration, Marketing, Fundraising
With that being said, their biggest need is the course monitor position. This position is the most important as having these volunteers along the race route is required by the city. They need 18 volunteers for this position but ideally, they'd have 36 volunteers so they can have 2 people at every course monitor position. Please note that all of these positions are spread out throughout the race routes, so even if you have a whole group volunteering as course monitors, all volunteers won't be at the same place.
Other than that, any of the other volunteer stations will keep the whole group together. The amount needed for the other stations are:
- Setup - 3 volunteers
- Vendor/Volunteer Check In - 5 volunteers
- Registration - 3 volunteers
- Water Station 1- 7 volunteers
- Water Station 2 - 10 volunteers
- Course Monitors - 18 or 36 volunteers
- Water & Ice Management - 8 volunteers
- Time Check - 3 volunteers
- Prize Tent - 2 volunteers
- Kid Zone - 3 volunteers
Once you look this over, if you're interested in "calling dibs" on any volunteer stations (as many as you want!) let Raye know and she will take them off the website and sign your group(s) up on the back end.
If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to reach out to Raye via email or via her direct line at 615-236-1565.
Thanks so much!
Raye
