Description

We invite you to join Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC), Liberty Elementary School, and The Habitat Connection in creating pollinator habitats with native wildflowers that support a variety of pollinator species, including native bees, butterflies, moths, and many more. This pollinator garden will not only provide a habitat for pollinators but also create an excellent educational opportunity for students, offering hands-on experiences in ecology, taxonomy, and environmental studies, as well as exposure to our beautiful natural world.

You will be engaged in the following activities :

  • - Removing the sod and remaining roots from the garden area
  • - shoveling and transporting soil with wheelbarrows into the pollinator habitat
  • - spreading the soil with rakes
  • - adding native wildflower seeds to the soil

TEC will provide all the necessary tools, gloves, and extra water if you run out. Please bring your refillable water bottle.

Please dress for gardening/yardwork (closed-toe shoes, long sleeve shirt, long pants, hat, and sunscreen).

Contact our Volunteer and Field Event coordinator, Bryn Beauchamp, at Bryn@tectn.org or Pollinator Program Director, Monika Pretz, at Monika@tectn.org if you have any questions.
