Hospice volunteers provide companionship, comfort, and support to patients and their families while helping improve quality of life during end-of-life care. Volunteers work closely with hospice staff to offer emotional support and non-medical assistance.
Duties may include:
* Provide companionship through conversation, reading, listening, or simply being present with patients.
* Offer emotional support and encouragement to patients and family members.
* Assist with light non-medical tasks, such as writing letters, organizing photos, or helping with hobbies and activities.
* Sit with patients to provide caregiver relief and respite for family members.
* Make friendly phone calls or wellness check-ins when appropriate.
