Volunteer Reading Tutor Needed – Evening Classes

Description

The Branch of Nashville is seeking a caring and experienced Volunteer Reading Tutor to support adult learners during our evening classes. We are specifically looking for someone who has experience teaching reading or literacy skills and enjoys helping learners build their confidence and strengthen their reading abilities.

Volunteer Schedule Mondays and/or Thursdays 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

Volunteers may serve one or both evenings depending on availability.

What You'll Do As a Reading Tutor, you will work with adult learners who need additional support developing their reading skills. You may:

-Provide one-on-one or small-group reading support

-Help learners with reading comprehension, vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency

-Reinforce skills being taught during class

-Encourage learners and help them gain confidence in their reading abilities

-Collaborate with our English Language Learning staff to meet individual learner needs

We're Looking for Someone Who:

- Has experience teaching reading, literacy, English, or a related subject

- Is patient, encouraging, and comfortable working with adult learners

- Can communicate clearly and adapt to different learning needs

- Is dependable and able to attend consistently

-Has a heart for supporting neighbors as they work toward their personal and educational goals
