Come help us plant 5,000 native tree seedlings along 1,700 ft of the Harpeth River in Cheatham County!
Planting native trees can restore the riparian buffer, protect streambanks from eroding, provide wildlife habitat, and filter pollutants from stormwater runoff to improve the quality of the river or stream.
Most river and stream pollution comes from stormwater runoff, oil, sediment, poorly stored trash and debris, manure, fertilizers, and other chemicals. This is called non-point source pollution because it comes from the entire watershed rather than any one point. Limiting use of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, composting yard waste and properly disposing waste, debris, and other materials near a stream helps to reduce this pollution. Planting native trees helps as well! Join us!
No experience is necessary. All ages are welcome. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please plan to support our efforts to keep everyone safe and healthy while working in our watershed by following current COVID-19 guidelines.
