We are reaching out to you with an urgent call for volunteers for a historic event taking place this Monday, January 15, 2024 – the MLK Invitational at Vanderbilt's Memorial Gymnasium.
Details about the event:
America's first HBCU gymnastics team, Fisk University Lady Bulldogs (Gymdogs), is set to make history once again. Fisk University is hosting a joint gymnastics match that will bring together the nation's only African American women head gymnastics coaches for a unique and historic competition. The participating universities include Brown University, Iowa State University, Rutgers University, Talladega College, William & Mary University, and Fisk University.

Vanderbilt University's Memorial Gymnasium
This meet, celebrating African American inclusion in gymnastics, has been adopted as an official event of Nashville's Martin Luther King, Jr. week of celebration.
Volunteer Shifts and Duties:
Shift #1 Load In - Sunday, January 14th, 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Shift #2 Load Out - Monday, January 15th, 4:45 p.m. - 9 p.m.
*Duties include but are not limited to setting up all gymnastics equipment. This involves manual labor and heavy lifting.
**Volunteers are also encouraged to show up at 4:45 and 5 p.m. for orientation.
Fisk needs 25 volunteers per shift to ensure the success of this historic event.
