We are inviting you to join Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) and Ravenwood High School gardening club, students and teachers to restore pollinator habitat with native wildflowers supporting pollinator species, native bees, butterflies, moth and many more species. This pollinator garden will not only provide habitat for pollinators but create an excellent educational opportunity for student with hands on experiences of ecology, taxonomy, environmental studies and exposure to our beautiful natural world.
You will be engaged in the following activities :
- remove already cut grass and invasive roots from the garden area,
- shoveling and transporting soil with wheelbarrows into the pollinator habitat,
- spreading the soil with rakes,
- adding native wildflower seeds to the soil.
TEC provides water (please bring your reusable water bottle) and snacks, and in case you forget your garden gloves, we got you covered. TEC will provide all the necessary tools but feel free to bring your own gardening tools if (gloves, rake, shovel, etc.), and be sure to dress for the garden ( closed toe shoe, long sleeve shirt and long pants).
Important: While TEC volunteer events occur at the high school, they are organized independently of the school. Please note that TEC volunteers do not have the permission to enter the school while on campus for the TEC volunteer events.
