We invite you to join Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC), Nissan, and the Antioch High School community in restoring pollinator habitat with native wildflowers supporting pollinator species, native bees, butterflies, moths, and many more species. This pollinator garden will not only provide a habitat for pollinators but also create an excellent educational opportunity for students with hands-on experiences in ecology, taxonomy, environmental studies, art classes and exposure to our beautiful natural world.
You will be engaged in the following activities :
-remove the sod and remaining roots from the garden area
-shoveling and transporting soil with wheelbarrows into the pollinator habitat
-spreading the soil with rakes
-adding native wildflower seeds to the soil
TEC will provide all the necessary tools, gloves, and water in a large jug. Please bring your refillable water bottle and be sure to dress for the garden (closed-toed shoes, long-sleeve shirt, and long pants).
Parking is available at the high school parking lot.
Important: While TEC volunteer events occur at the high school, they are organized independently. Please note that TEC volunteers do not have the permission to enter the school while on campus for the TEC volunteer events.
Contact our our Pollinator Program Leader Monika G Pretz; monika@tectn.org if you have any questions.
