Description

What?

Please join Tennessee Environmental Council in planting native trees and shrubs along Grassy Branch Creek in Spring Hill, TN.

Where

This volunteer opportunity will occur near the Peter Jenkins Walking Trail in the Wyngate Estates subdivision in Spring Hill. We will meet at the trailhead located near 2264 Haywood Lane. TEC Field Operations Manager Jordan Young will meet you there and outfit you with all the necessary tools.

When?

This event will occur on Friday, March 28, 2024, beginning at 9:00 am and ending around 12 pm.

Why?

By planting a diverse assortment of native trees, we will expand the vegetative buffer zone along Grassy Branch Creek. Healthy vegetative buffers play an instrumental role in the health of a stream by reducing the amount of sediment and nutrient pollution entering the stream, reducing erosion, decreasing flood water velocity downstream, and creating habitat for a variety of wildlife.

What to bring and what to wear?

Please wear suitable clothing for working outdoors, such as gloves, boots, hats, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts. It is essential to wear sturdy closed-toed shoes.

Additionally, please remember to bring your water bottle and sunscreen. TEC will provide the necessary tools, extra gloves, and refillable water.

What’s next?

If you sign up for this event, you will receive a reminder email 24 hours before.
