We invite you to join Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) in creating a rain garden.
What is a rain garden?
- Rain gardens reduce polluted stormwater runoff
- Reduce flooding & recharge the groundwater
- Enhance the beauty of your yard & community
- Provide places for wildlife to live
You will be engaged in the following activities :
- Removing the sod and remaining roots from the garden area
- Digging out the dirt to create a depression in the ground
- Adding rain garden soil mix to the area
- Planting native grasses, wildflowers, and shrubs
TEC will provide all the necessary tools, gloves, and water in a large jug. Please bring your refillable water bottle. Be sure to dress for the garden (closed-toed shoes, long-sleeve shirt, and long pants).
Parking is available on the street.
Contact our volunteer event coordinator, Bryn@tectn.org, if you have any questions.
Important: While TEC volunteer events occur at the school, they are organized independently of the school. Please note that TEC volunteers are not permitted to enter the school while on campus for the TEC volunteer events.
