Lunch buddies are mentors who come eat lunch and spend time once a week with one of our scholars during their lunch periods on Monday - Friday. You will visit with your “Buddy” during lunch and read, do crafts, play games, and ultimately form a positive relationship. Consistency, positivity, and fun are what make a great lunch buddy!
This is a weekly or biweekly commitment. You can come ANY day of the week, as long as it’s during your Buddy’s assigned lunch period.
Below are each grade level's lunch times:
- Kindergarten – 11:20am – 11:50am
- 1st grade – 11:50am – 12:20pm
- 2nd grade – 10:20am – 10:50am
- 3rd grade – 12:00pm – 12:30pm
- 4th grade – 10:30am – 11:00am
- 5th grade – 10:50am – 11:20am
Steps to become a lunch buddy:
- Complete this lunch buddy application and email application to tiffany.rhodes@mnps.org.
- Register and submit a background check using this link: https://pencilforschools.org/backgroundcheck/ (Most volunteers fall into the “MNPS Programs” box. It usually takes about 2-3 days for volunteers to clear.)
