Who We Are

"Through the power of spirituality and the practice of love, we provide hospitality with a respect that offers hope in a community of non-violence."

Room In The Inn’s Winter Shelter program runs from November through March each year, in coordination with over 100 congregations throughout Middle Tennessee. The program provides safe shelter, warm meals, and fellowship for our neighbors struggling with homelessness during the coldest months of the year. In the 2023-24 season, congregations provided more than 15,000 beds.

We are excited to host RITI this year on FRIDAYS at the Belmont United Methodist Church (2007 Acklen Ave, Nashville, TN 37212).

What We Do

We have 3 volunteer positions at this time:

Innkeepers - Our Innkeepers arrive at 6:00pm and stay the night at the Belmont United Methodist Church. They will wake the guests up in the morning, prepare breakfast, and send the guests on their way. Innkeepers will then clean-up and put away the cots and start the laundry. Each evening requires 2 innkeepers, and they must be male.

Set-Up/Host Team -  This team will set-up the cots and supplies for the evening, set-up the Fellowship hall for dinner, prepare hygiene kits, and share dinner with the guests. Each evening requires 2-3 Hosts.

Chef Team -  This team will prepare dinner and dessert, pack lunches for the following day, prep breakfast for our guests and clean up the kitchen.  You will also have the opportunity to share dinner with our guests. Each evening requires 2-3 chefs.
